Jessica at the Kitchen

Jessica Hansen & The Kitchen at Middleground Farms

Jessica is the founder of The Kitchen and has joined our board of directors to help us more thoughtfully craft each gathering we hold. She incorporates her love for farming, cooking and intentionality around the table into how she hosts each event at her farm to table kitchen. We have loved working with the staff at the Kitchen at Middleground Farms as we have planned our evening gatherings. The beautiful setting lends itself the kind of deep rest we seek to welcome our leaders into and their farm to table approach to dining is nourishing on so many levels. We have also enjoyed the way their staff jumps in and personally cares for our leaders. The Kitchen at Middleground Farms is a recreational cooking school located on a family hobby farm outside of Portland, in Wilsonville, Oregon.

  • Lisa McMinn & Fern Creek Farm

Lisa has partnered with us to recruit the spiritual directors for the cohort. Lisa owns Fern Creek Farm, a local retreat space where participants are encouraged to explore and stay. She received her Spiritual Direction certificate through Portland Seminary, holds a PhD in Sociology and a certificate from The Living School, a program of Richard Rohr's Center for Contemplation and Action.

  • Rev. Chris Murphy & Newberg First Presbyterian

Newberg First Presbyterian has adopted Shalom Collective as a ministry partner and Pastor Chris Murphy is on the board of Shalom Collective. His ministry in Newberg includes leading prayer retreats at his church on the first Friday of each month which make use of the Newberg Peace Garden, located on the back of the church's property and includes a prayer labyrinth.

  • Jean Nevills & the Garden Poustinia

Jean has partnered with us by offering our participants the use of her retreat “poustinia”—a small retreat house in a grove on her 30-acre property in Hillsboro. Jean is a certified Spiritual Director with a Masters in Christian Education and a certificate in Spiritual Formation from the Renovare Institute. She has also recruited additional spiritual directors for participants desiring direction.
